Magical Family Tour to Disney World
I have two daughters – Sanaz and Sanaya, who have been Disney fans for years, watching videos about the amazing parks on YouTube. These girls’ eyes would light up Mickey, Minnie and all the princesses I can tell you. Surprisingly, for quite some time, we figured out what their dream was to be — our vacation trip to Walt Disney World! Anticipation filled us because each plan to make this journey outstanding was well thought of. Many of our bags are packed and many of our hearts are full of expectation and you said, “Orlando, let’s get there – let there be magic.” Travelling with children at Walt Disney World could not be easier and a little preparation goes a long way! Before sharing our adventure, here are some practical tips for families heading to Orlando, especially if it’s your first time:
- Prepare for the Heat: That means, even though it is not really summer it can be extremely hot in Orlando all throughout the year. Take hats, glasses, and you can apply a lot of cream for a tan. Casual dress is required, and since there will be quite a bit of walking, footwear should also be comfortable.
- Stay Hydrated: At the park you could also carry at least 3 water bottles or buy a refillable water bottle. Some filling sites are strategically located within the park hence ensuring that everyone takes enough water when hiking through the inclined areas or while in Florida.
- Plan for Wait Times: Rides such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain or Haunted Mansion can have wait time between 10 minutes and one hour or even more. Take food for the kids and try to make use of the Disney genie plus service, which can help save time and avoid big waits with the flow.
Day 1: Arrival in Orlando
Our flight from New York to Orlando was at 6 am and when we touched down in Florida, the warm sun was warming our skin telling us it was home. People were tired but excitement so the fatigue did not catch up with anyone most of the times. It was still very early for us to go to the hotel and thus we moved around the locality and stopped at a café to enjoy their breakfast. When the girls got into this hotel, few of them could wait to have a swim in the pool. They swim and swim like kids, what happiness!!! The following day we ate a very delicious Mexican dinner in a nearby restaurant, and the smell of sizzling beef and the fresh avocado dominated the season. It was the right thing to have before going for a walk in the city with a casual stroll. We went to bed early we had heard that the parks are busy and so we wanted to be prepared to be there early the next morning on Magic Kingdom. I do not have a clear idea about the basic ideas of such concept as intellectual demand or its measure as the degree of complexity of tasks performed by the candidates.
Day 2: It is often stated as Magic Kingdom – Where Dreams Come True
Everyone got up early enough with butterflies in our stomachs knowing that we were to step into the world of fantasy. For the rest of the drive to Magic Kingdom, the girls discussed all the characters they expect to see. When we walked in past the turnstiles, the castle stood first like a beacon in the morning shimmer. The girls becoming extremely energetic and surprised said “It has come true that even we have dreams.” The castle was broad and lights was beaming through to give a real feel of a fairy tale kingdom. Our next activity involved attending to some of the most loved Disney characters. The girls could not believe their luck to be seeing their favorite princesses waving and singing at them. Next we rushed to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train a spinning ride that had a rollercoaster tinge to it and everyone damn laughed. Sanaya was a little reluctant in the beginning but enjoyed every second and signaled immediately for the next round. Next, we quietly sailed through It’s a Small World ride without bumping anywhere inside the ride. Riding together in a boat enjoying beautiful dolls of different countries and the girls harmoniously sang the pleasant and joyful song with words. If only the whole world could be reduced to that specific moment where it seemed like everyone was together.
Tips for Magic Kingdom:
- Arrive Early: Earlier you get there at park opening hours then you are sure to find that there is little queue when it comes to the busy rides.
- Bring Snacks: There may be long waits for the rides and food too, so travel with snacks when going to Six Flags.
- Take Breaks: Try and avoid getting active during the day when the heat is at its highest, instead find some medium to dark areas to take a break in.
We proceeded to more rides and were lucky to get some seats in front for the Festival of Fantasy Parade. Shops float, characters and costumes were charming, may it be the highlight to all spectators. When the sun set, we just crippled to the magic kingdom front the castle where families sit to watch Happily Ever After fireworks. The sky was painted in pink and fuchsia and as soon as the music came on the night was alive with colors. We are just lucky and happy to watch this beautiful and great moment.
Day 3: The Hollywood Studios
For our last full day in the park we decided to go to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios park. Sanaz and Sanaya had much enthusiasm on visiting Galaxy’s Edge – the Star Wars themed part. As real fans, visiting the Galaxy’s Edge felt like hopping into a new world with enormous spaceships and roam dwelling droids.
We enjoyed the attractions to the shots we took during the tour including the terrifying Tower of Terror. The girls clung to us as we step inside the spirits-like elevator only to fall in the next minute taking our breaths away!
Tips for Hollywood Studios:
- For Star Wars Fans: Effectively, Galaxy’s Edge is busy, therefore, you should better arrive earlier.
- Character Dining: Make a reservation beforehand if your children want to eat with Minnie, Mickey, or the princesses — these tables are hot.
- Disney Genie+: Save as much time as possible, paying the Internet service Disney Genie + for such points of interest as Tower of Terror.
Althoug exhausted by the time evening arrived we could not help but be happy that Disney only offered a unique kind of magic.
Day 4: Relaxation and Departure
On our last day we woke up early and after took some boost then we decided to head to Miami for our next vacation. Over coffee, we spoke about the fun times at Disney and how much and how far we had come in creating the memories.
As it turned out, the girls chose their memorabilia — a Mickey Mouse snow globe and shimmering tiaras, which the girls wore with gusto. Any goodbyes made were with a hint of sadness, however in our minds we knew this trip, would always remain in our soul.
More Family Tips for the Walt Disney World Resort:
- Download the My Disney Experience App: For all things park maps and ride schedules, dining reservations, and everything in-between, this app is useful.
- Use Rider Switch: Rider Switch is for families who may have young kids, one has to wait for the other to ride the attraction, they switch and avoid having to wait in the queue again.
- Budget for Souvenirs: Shopping at Disney shops is diversified; therefore, it becomes easy to be caught off guard and end up spending a lot of money costs.
Disney trip was magical and adventurous for us and I think for any age group it is a a must visit a place and we must plan our trip very meticulously. We hope that these tips make the Disney magic possible for other families, as well!
