Miami: A Stunning City and a Beach Trip With Great Fun

It was a great and unforgettable family vacation to Miami, Florida. Accompanied by my wife and two children, we felt the need to include a bit of rest, a lot of culture, and some adventure in the trip and Miami was able to satisfy all the requirements. As a usual tourist destination, the city is well known for its warmer climate, colorful towns, and beautiful coastlines and was just right for a family vacation with kids.

History of Miami:

Apart from the beaches, Miami should be recognized for its deep and compelling history. The land was first part of the Tequesta Tribe in the sixteenth century. In 1896, it was circa Henry Flagler that Miami was made a city as it became desirable for settlement when the railroad opened the place for development. For now, it is full of many different kinds of people, mostly from Latin culture. As we walked through the neighborhoods, we were even more impressed by the huge amount of different nationalities that we had in America.

Hot weather with sunshine throughout the year:

We went in summer, so let’s just say it’s *hot*. Traveling with two kids in tow, we made sure to bring lots of sunscreen, hats, and light clothes. The kids liked that they could jump in the water to cool off at any moment. If you want to have mild, pleasant weather, though, wintertime is perfect. Whatever time of year you come, be prepared for plenty of sunshine because of Miami’s tropical climate.

Miami Beach: Fun in the Sun for the Whole Family:

We spent the majority of our time at the ever-popular Miami Beach. It was just about what we had envisioned. The kids were delighted building sandcastles, swimming, and playing along the water’s edge. South Beach was hyper, and though nice for people-watching-the art deco buildings were very nice-we felt North Beach was a little more in line with what our family needed. It’s quieter and not as crowded, offering more space to relax and let the kids run around. Even a casual stroll down Ocean Drive felt like going on a journey. The vintage art deco styles were a plus to the place. And being that Miami is all about class, there were several mega-yachts moored at the beaches which excited our kids.

Exploring the City: Art Culture and More Attractions for Kids

Those of us who have kids wished to combine relaxing at the beach and some cultural activities and thankfully Miami did not disappoint. Little Havana was among the places we appreciated most. This Cuban soul of the city was like a peep to a different planet. The principal street ‘Calle Ocho’ was captivating, full of murals, music and the wafting aroma of delicious Cuban cuisine. We even demonstrated to kids the process of rolling cigars as done in Cuba (fret not, we did not get too close!).

However, Wynwood Walls was the most enjoyable place for the kids. It is such a place where huge and bright pictures painted on the walls form an outdoor gallery which is like a play area. We photographed the family around the designs for some time, and even the tiniest in size was fascinated with the bright patterns.

To facilitate movement, we took a hop on hop off tour bus. This is a positive aspect for the families, as family travels entails a lot of hassle and this helps to avoid driving and looking for parking. The bus was performing a tour of Downtown Miami, Wynwood, Little Havana, and other places of interest. This also meant that they were able to have some relaxation in between the stops while the children were entertained with some history through an audio guide.

Miami’s Dazzling Aspect Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous:

Miami’s expensive side is easy to overlook, and even with children, we enjoyed a glimpse of the city’s more extravagant activities. We saw amazing yachts along the shoreline which our children loved because they imagined who they belonged to (probably people like Jennifer Lopez or Jake Chang!). We walked around areas such as Brickell and the Design District which gave us a taste of Miami’s posh restaurants and shops. We can almost guarantee that no one got too bored even if shopping with children is not always the easiest thing to do as even walking around those areas was an exciting experience to remember as a family.

At the End:

Sun, sand, and great cultural diversity best describe our family vacation in Miami. Be it a simple day at the beach, exploring the Cuban culture, or street art, there was always something to engage both grown-ups and children. Miami is a perfect relatives’ vacation destination owing to its heat and not just the weather as there is so much warmth in the rich culture seeking a balance between rest and fun. In case you are working on your next holiday, make sure you put Miami on your list of possible choices!
